Thanksgiving 2017 is a Wrap and I am Still Full
It Was a Family Extravaganza for Thanksgiving 2017
Thanksgiving 2017 has come to a close already. In the spirit of the weekend we got together for two massive family dinners. We are incredibly lucky to live so close to so much family. It warms my heart when we get to spend time together like this.
On Saturday we had a dinner at my parent’s home. There were 10 of us including us, my parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, so it was a decent sized crowd.
My mum pulled off an incredible feast; turkey, potatoes, corn on the cob, stuffing, cranberries, beans and homemade apple pie!
Then on Sunday we headed over to Glen’s mum’s for another family dinner. This crowd was even bigger – 14 of us all together. Most of the seven siblings were there and brought friends and/or significant others, so the crowd got big quickly. There was another feast of Thanksgiving staples: turkey, stuffing, potatoes, yams, cauliflower, broccoli, homemade bread, cranberries, pumpkin pie, and apple crumble.
In my favourite photo of the weekend: Evelyn had obviously had enough of family shenanigans and went totes serious, judging our family humour…
It was a sensational weekend with far too much food. I may or may not have slipped into my maternity pants at some point. But gluttony aside, I am thankful that we got to celebrate with so many wonderful people. It’s cliché to say, but it is easy to forget our blessings. Weekends like this remind me that as long as you have family, things aren’t all that bad.
I hope you got to spend some time this weekend with your loved ones.
